Beach Experience . The sand is coarse. The beach is suitable for sun bathing and for kid frolicking in the water. Glovers Lake is great for convenient swimming, sun bathing, wading, playing in the sand, It is like having a gigantic swimming pool or your private fishing hole in your back yard. Because all of 1,000 feet of beach front is private, grass has grown up along the beach area. I will have as much cleared out as I can without getting into trouble with the DNR. As the volume of traffic increases with people walking and playing on the beach the growth of grass should be stunted. When my kids were little they preferred to wade and run in and out of the water on the part of our property closer to the public access because it was more shallow. Although they could swim in Glovers Lake, they often preferred that I drive them about 20 min to Crystal Lake, for 3 reasons. 1. Crystal lake is a world class swimming area that is impossible to match. 2. Crystal Lake had plenty of other children to play with. 3. Around the corner from the Crystal lake public access in Beulah is a drug store that sells ice-cream cones. In the evenings, we would drive 10 minutes or so to Arcadia where they would run up and down a beautiful sandy beach of Lake Michigan but not swim. While the children played the adults sat on the benches or swings and enjoyed spectacular sunsets. We would return home after sunset, start a fire in the firehole on the beach and roast marshmallows for s’mores. There is something about the glow of a fire at night that brings out the kid in all of us.
